Maker's Story: Custom men's bracelet order

Maker's Story: Custom men's bracelet order

This journey began almost 3 months ago, with the choosing of the raw stone that was cut to custom-sized cabochons for this project.

These pieces were made from a very rare stone, native copper bearing chalcedony with chrysocolla. The stones were cut to special dimensions for strength and beauty by Angelina Jordan at CabsQueen's lapidary. I'm super excited about how these turned out - just stunning. The thick inclusions of native copper in these stones is extremely hard to find, as there is just one place in the world this particular pattern is found. Read about the stone's significance in Ken's comments below!

All metal is solid sterling silver except the accents which are 100% copper. The leather is thick European and available in a variety of colors. Click on the link/video (below) to see more of the Maker's story for these badass bracelets.

Care Information & Instructions:

Near the end of the video are instructions regarding opening and closing the bracelet (around minute 5:50).  The clasp is to one side of the stone, as part of a design element.  To open:

  • Push the clasp forward, under the backplate of the stone.
  • When it comes to the end, remove it from the loop on the side of the stone.
  • The bracelet is then fully open.
  • To close it again, do the exact reverse.
  • Press the leather tight and push the clasp "hook" under the backplate
  • Thread the end through the wire loop
  • Pull it back to the curve and allow the bracelet to move freely

How do you know it fits?

This is a lot of personal preference, some wear (like good leather shoes), and a few general rules-of-thumb.

  • If the bracelet falls past the first joint of your thumb when clasped, it's too long
  • If you cannot get enough length when as tight as possible to force the clasp hook under the backplate and thread it through the loop, it's too short

If it is too long or short, contact Bonnie for instructions on returning it for re-sizing.

Instructions for Care:

All metal on this piece is 100% hand forged sterling silver, except the bezel directly around the stone & the decorative cap on the end of the leather, which are 100% copper.  The piece has been intentionally antiqued (or blackened) for a rustic look. All metal has been rubbed with Renaissance Wax as a protective coating. If the metals blacken more that you desire, use #00 steel wool lightly to reveal the brightness of the metal to the level you wish.

* Please note as this design contains elements of copper, the skin may slightly discolor if sensitive to this.  It is completely harmless, and is due to the reaction of your skin to the salts in copper.  If this becomes bothersome to you, you can coat the copper with clear enamel.

This piece should NEVER be worn/exposed to the following:

  • Water - will rot/wear the leather
  • Chemicals (lotion, perfumes, cleaning products, etc.) - can rot/affect the leather, connections, and/or react with the metals and your skin

The leather can be rubbed lightly with mink oil if it feels at all dry.

The stone is highly polished and cut specifically for strength, but it can still chip, crack or break if struck directly, stepped on, or otherwise handled roughly.

If treated properly, this bracelet should last many decades.  If there are any issues, simply contact Bonnie.

Ken Patchett on

These are gifts for my 5 sons and my father. They are by far the most meaningful heirloom things ever given to connect this Patchett Clan. The work is exquisite and hits exactly the bespoke nature and craftsmanship I was looking for. The Stoned represent everything I want for my sons as they become the men and leaders of their families that they were destined to be.

1. Healing and Nurturing Energy
Chalcedony: Known for promoting peace, harmony, and emotional balance. It symbolizes goodwill and generosity, making it a “nurturer” stone.

Chrysocolla: Associated with calmness, healing, and empowerment, especially for communication and emotional resilience.

2. Connection to Nature and Earth Energy
The copper content signifies a strong connection to Earth’s grounding energies. Copper is often linked with amplifying energies and conducting spiritual forces.
The vibrant blues and greens from the chrysocolla evoke the healing power of water and growth.

3. Transformation and Growth
The formation of this stone suggests a fusion of distinct elements, symbolizing transformation, adaptability, and resilience through life’s challenges.
Copper, a symbol of energy flow, enhances the stone’s role in fostering personal and spiritual growth.

4. Rarity and Uniqueness
A stone so rare represents individuality and the value of things that are one-of-a-kind, reminding the bearer to embrace their unique path and talents.
Its exclusivity adds an aura of mystery and prestige, making it a symbol of rare opportunities and special moments.

5. Spiritual Empowerment
Copper-bearing stones are often thought to heighten intuition and energy flow, acting as a conduit for spiritual awakening.
Chrysocolla’s connection to the throat chakra aids in clear communication, speaking truth, and connecting deeply with others.

Rare stones like this are often considered talismans of strength, inner peace, and the integration of diverse energies. They are cherished not only for their beauty but also for the profound energy they are believed to impart.
